DOYALD YOUNG – LOGOTYPE DESIGNER

DOYALD YOUNG, a true master of letterforms, started his journey in a small Texas town, driven by a passion for words and shapes that would later make him one of the most respected figures in typography and logotype design. As refined as his script fonts and as sharp as the Oxford English Dictionary he loved, Young set a new standard for elegance in lettering.

Throughout his career, he created typefaces like Young Baroque and Home Run, along with iconic logotypes for major brands such as Prudential and General Electric. But beyond his work, he was also a dedicated teacher, sharing his knowledge with generations of designers at Art Center College of Design.

He authored essential books like Logotypes & Letterforms and Dangerous Curves, helping others understand the nuances of letter design. In 2009, he was awarded the prestigious AIGA Medal for his contributions. His passion and meticulous craft are beautifully captured in the documentary Doyald Young, Logotype Designer, a tribute to his lifelong dedication to the art of typography.
